I love living in the Prescott community (30 years) and I want to serve and give back to the community in which I live. I have a wide range of interests, including a love of nature and an appreciation for our trails, lakes and recreational opportunities in Prescott. As a long-time small business owner in Prescott and with my work experience with the Town of Chino Valley, I have developed business, leadership, communication and problem-solving skills. I have many contacts in the community that could benefit the City Council, and, if appointed, I will be able to hit the ground running.
I believe the function and purpose of the City Council is to provide leadership and make policy on the local level. I understand I have the duty to listen to my constituents and to represent and govern by the voice of the people—to not have my own biases and personal agendas. My purpose as a city councilman is to support our infrastructure, our Fire and Police, ensure our water resources, and work to maintain our quality of life.
As a business owner, I recognize the need for manageable, sustainable growth. My goal for the City of Prescott is to maintain the quality of life that we now enjoy. As a city, I feel we need to focus on issues affecting growth—infrastructure needs, the Prescott Airport, water mains, sewer lines, roads, public safety, protecting our water resources, open space, recreation and trails. Other priorities include the continuation of a vibrant downtown area and a robust, diversified economy. I envision maintaining the charm and quality of life in Prescott as we grow.
Slow, sustainable growth, 1-2% per year.
Encourage infill and less urban sprawl.
Protect our aquifer, achieve safe-yield, protect the Verde River.
I support a regional Granite Dells Park.
Protect encroachment on the Prescott Regional Airport.
More transparency and public input on issues affecting the city.
Be a public servant - represent the people, not my own interests.
Honesty and integrity first and foremost.
I will not accept any campaign contributions from developers.

I have lived in Arizona for close to 50 years. For the last 30 years, my wife and I have lived in Prescott and raised our family of six children. I have a bachelor’s degree in business management and own three businesses in Prescott: Jay’s Bird Barn, Hallmark, and Arizona Field Optics on Willow Creek Road. Prior to opening Jay’s Bird Barn, I was employed by the Town of Chino Valley as the Community Services Manager, with direct responsibility for the parks, recreation, senior center, and library departments. Other duties included grant writing and special projects. While living in Prescott, I have been very active in supporting a variety of nonprofit organizations — especially Yavapai Exceptional Industries by providing meaningful employment to adults with disabilities.
